Weekly Recap

Week 5

What’s up everyone and welcome to the Week 5 recap. I know I’ve been lagging for the past 2, school and work have both ganged up on me at the same time which has made keeping up with this difficult. But it should start clearing up next week, we’ll see. Anyways, enough excuses let’s dive right in.

Real life notes:

  • On this week’s edition of When the Bells Ring, Bell has still not returned to the Steelers and no one has any idea what is going on. Rumors are coming out now of the Eagles being a possible trade partner, but realistically I think the Eagles will swoop on someone cheaper (Shady, Tevin Coleman, Gillislee).
  • Drew Brees officially breaks the record for most passing yards in his career. That’s such a Chargers thing to happen too, they let their starting QB walk away and that QB goes on to win a Super Bowl and break the NFL record for passing yards in a career lol.
  • And overshadows Brady’s 500th career passing TD. Moving him to #3 ahead of, you guessed it, Drew Brees.
  • I’m about 83% sure Mason Crosby shaved points off his last game; that POS.
  • The Browns have now achieved every single possible outcome to an NFL game this season:
    • vs Steelers = Tie
    • vs Saints = Loss
    • vs Jets = Win
    • vs Raiders = Loss in OT
    • vs Ravens = Win in OT
  • Antonio Brown is apparently a fucking prick and almost killed a kid by throwing furniture out of his 14th story window.

SOGG VS MASSOUD

The battle of the bottom feeders, both Sogg and Massoud entered this game without a win. Well ladies and gentlemen, Soggy has still not left that basement brewery in San Clemente.

Coming off the first game after his blockbuster trade for Antonio Brown (and last game lol), he was rewarded with 25 points out of Brown and another 20 out of Hopkins. Michel has stepped up and become a solid starter for Soggy and he isn’t missing Gronk with Jimmy Graham putting up another 11 for him. But alas, it wasn’t enough.

Massoud finally got a big game out of first round pick OBJ, and without TY Hilton Eric Ebron was a target monster. Those 2 together, along with Carson Wentz’s nearly 30 point game was what it took for Massoud to finally get his first game of the season.

Sogg Max Possible Score: 127.9 (132.9 if he didn’t start a defense..or kicker)
Massoud Max Possible Score: 129.62

EDGAR VS BALLS

Who would’ve thought, a team with a top 5 WR, top 10 QB, 2 top 10 RBs and the 2 starting WRs of the Patriots would be 2-3; but here we are. Carlos Hyde finally came back down to Earth and didn’t score a TD for the first time all season, and although Josh Gordon caught Tom Brady’s 500th TD pass both him and Edelman combined for 107 yards.

Edgar, on the other hand, is coming off of a red hot tear. Obviously Gurley and Saquon Barkley are dominating, but this was actually a down week for Edgar: only 17 points out of Goff and 18 points total out of his 3 starting WRs. (For reference, Golden Tate alone had nearly double that amount last week) Then to top it off, starting next week Edgar has the addition of Antonio Brown; this here is your team to beat ladies and gentlemen.

Edgar Max Possible Score: 143.24
Balls Max Possible Score: 130.56

DIZ VS MIKE

The nail biter of the week, this game went down to the wire; with Diz’s team holding a strong lead throughout the weekend Mike made a valiant comeback Monday night on the back of Drew Brees’ NFL record setting performance. But alas, it was not enough; if Drew Brees had passed for 9 more yards that would’ve been enough for Mike to pull off the victory. That’s how close this game was.

Unluckily for mike, getting nearly 70 points out of 2 players was not enough to bring himself over Diz’s team. 22 points out of the Arizona DEF and double digit performances by 2/3 WRs ended up being enough for Diz to move on with the W.

Diz Max Possible Score: 126.20 (0 points on the bench)
Mike Max Possible Score: 133.52 (Lol you could’ve won if you started DJ Moore)

MOSTAFA VS AMIN

On the one hand, Mostafa only got 11 points out of Joe Flacco (on a side note, I tried trading Flacco to the Bills in Madden the other day and their response to my trade request was that he is not “a skilled player” lol); on the other he had 3 players with double his score and 1 player with triple his score. 0 Points out of the Denver defense didn’t help, but apparently who needs a defense when 4 of your starters has 20+ ppg.

Amin has put up a hell of a fight this season, and this week was no different. Galloday is quickly becoming a superstar before our eyes and Zach Ertz is a different player with Carson Wentz under center. But unfortunately for Amin, his loss came on the heels of Brandin Cooks’ injury; had Amin started Galloday in Cooks’ place and one of his bench RBs in the FLEX he could’ve been the first man to down Mostafa this season.

Mostafa Max Possible Score: 148.52
Amin Max Possible Score: 144.9

ARYA VS ZAYD

Things keep getting worse and worse for Zayd. Julio Jones still hasn’t caught a touchdown pass this season (in fact, he hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since week 12 of last season). Kenyon Drake basically matches his point total for this season so far, and even though James white only had 2 carries for 0 yards; his 10 catches and touchdown was enough to get 19 points for him).

Arya smartly started Brady over Mahomes this week, and it paid off with nearly double the score. With 3 players on bye, he really didn’t have many options for his lineup and he got lucky that he didn’t have to worry about it. Scantling become a stud with Cobb and Allison out with injury, Demaryus Thomas finally had a good game, and Kareem Hunt continues his dominant performance giving Arya the easy win.

Arya Max Possible Score: 145.64
Zayd Max Possible Score: 129.62

AZIZ VS AZIZIS

As usual, Billy beats Aryan.

Aryan Max Possible Score: 99.18 (104.18 if I didn’t start a kicker)
Azizis Max Possible Score: 130.68

AKBAR VS KAYVON

And last but certainly not least, we find the Wizard getting his first L of the season. Well, first depends on your definition of losing; I think he took some L’s in the chatroom over the course of the season.

Kayvon’s team finally comes back down to Earth. Matty Light with only 1 TD, Juju only 34 yards receiving, and Kamara with only 3 catches and 24 rushing yards.

Even without his stud WR performing, Devante Adams more than made up for it. The best part about Akbar’s win? He scored less than 100 points, had a defense with -1 point, and this was by far Akbar’s lowest scoring week of the season.

Akbar Max Possible Score: 101.64 (102.64 if he didn’t start a DEF)
Kayvon Max Possible Score: 96.7
